Inspiring Inclusion: Our Commitment to Diversity and Equality

March 14, 2024

Axis hosted an International Women's Day event, talking about the importance of inclusion.

Recently, we held an International Women’s Day networking luncheon in Melbourne, Australia. Aligned with the overarching theme of ‘Inspire Inclusion’ for this year’s International Women’s Day, we brought together our Australian system integrators and distributors to explore this pivotal topic and how our industry can actively nurture a culture of diversity, equality, and inclusion well beyond the day itself.

Wai King Wong, Regional Director Oceania, explains why this networking luncheon was arranged, “I am pleased by the lineup of inspiring leaders who joined us on stage, including Thea Emetlis, Country President for Securitas Australia, our valued multi-regional partner. Thea’s path in the industry encapsulates the spirit of resilience and determination that defines our collective journey towards a more inclusive future. Having joined the event online, as I unfortunately couldn’t attend it in person, I was still impacted by Thea’s talk. “Something I found particularly inspiring was learning of the critical support her male peers and mentors provided to advance her career path. It truly shows the power of acting as one.”

“It was also really interesting hearing from our panel of speakers, which included Thea, Alejandra Riano (Stantec), Bryan De Caires (ASIAL), Richard Sluiter (Charity DV Safe Phones), and our very own Novita Santoso, Key Account Manager Field Sales in Australia, on what is discouraging women from entering the security industry, and what practices we can implement to better advocate opportunities for females in the workplace.”

Axis hosted a International Women's Day to talk about our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

At Axis, we believe that embracing diversity and inclusion is not just a moral imperative but also a strategic necessity. Our four focus areas that are the cornerstones of our business are: respecting people, protecting people, innovating responsibly, and always being trustworthy. Wai King explains why this is crucial: “These pillars serve as the foundation of our efforts to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and talents”.

Recognizing that diversity encompasses a wide range of dimensions that include gender, age, nationality, background, culture, skills, sexual orientation and more, we understand that diverse teams drive creativity and innovation, which are essential for our industry’s continued success and growth. That is why we have chosen to invite our channel partners to this year’s International Women’s Day event, encouraging them to join us in driving the inclusivity message within their own businesses.

“I’d like to thank our partners who joined us for this important event. Your personal reflections not only enrich our understanding but also serve as a testament to the power of collaboration and dialogue in driving meaningful change”, Wai King concludes.

Together, let us continue to champion diversity, equality, and empowerment for all.
