Meet Bashar, Team Leader, and football fan

What is your role at Axis?  

I work as a Team Leader and I’m part of the sales team in the Middle East. I am responsible for managing and developing the Axis partner network in The United Arab Emirates and Oman. I work with my team of Key Account Managers and Account Managers to maintain and build long-term, trusted, and successful relationships with our Gold, Silver, and Authorized partners in the region.  

In addition, I manage relationships with Axis’ Multi Regional Partners based in Dubai. 

What is your favorite part of the job?  

Interacting with people at Axis and our partner organizations and clients is the most rewarding. I’m lucky to work in the Dubai office, one of the most diverse offices in the world, with employees from different backgrounds, languages, and cultures. It’s the same with our partners and clients, who come from many places, so it’s always exciting to share and learn from our different cultures and home countries.  

Being in sales means there’s no “typical day”; rather, every day is dynamic and full of energy. I focus on supporting my team and spending time meeting our partners. I enjoy being a trusted advisor to them and empowering them with all the necessary tools, knowledge and Axis values. 

Why Axis?

I have worked in security and surveillance since graduating from University in 2008. I came across Axis in 2010 while working in Saudi Arabia with my previous employer, and we did a project that involved Axis cameras. I was amazed by the product quality and ease of use. I started reading about Axis and became more and more interested in joining as I learned how innovative the company is in the network video industry.  

After joining Axis, I immediately realized I had made the right choice, the people are extremely supportive and welcoming. I felt like I was in a great place to settle and start a family, which I did all while working at Axis. It was amazing to be able to grow my career with Axis while at the same time seeing my family grow.  

Axis offers me and my colleagues continuous learning and development opportunities. I really like the Axis Sales Methodology training, which has helped develop my soft skills.  

What can a new employee expect when they join Axis?  

Axis in UAE offers 100 days of parental leave. How cool is that?! In fact, when Axis introduced the new EMEA parental leave during a kick-off in 2023, I realized I’d be the first to benefit from it as my wife was pregnant. The policy came in on May 1^st and our child was born on May 2^nd! 

How do you see Axis making a difference in the world? 

Knowing that we provide solutions that keep people safe and protect assets, improve traffic times and business efficiency, save animals in Africa, monitor falcons and their lifecycle, and so much more. All these examples show how Axis contributes towards a smarter and safer world.  

Sustainability is a big focus for Axis. I love participating in our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, for example, I was extremely proud to support our initiative with the Dubai Autism Center. 

Sustainability and contributing towards a safer and smarter world make me proud to be part of Axis, as I feel I am making a difference.  

What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Axis? 

Be curious, ask questions, be humble, act with kindness, and think long-term.  

What’s your ideal day off? 

My ideal day off would be traveling to a new place with family or friends exploring a new city and its history.
