Meet Johny, National Sales Manager who loves challenges

How did you start your journey with Axis?

I was previously in a different sales role in the tech industry. When I found out about Axis, I researched more about the organization and discovered that I had an interest in video analytics. Given my background in the industry, I also had a sense of familiarity with Axis and was curious to know more about the company.

I love a good challenge, and embracing new challenges is something I never shy away from. I saw that Axis had good potential to grow further in Indonesia, so it was an exciting challenge to take up to help develop the brand locally. Lastly, I’ve always been keen on selling solution-based products, which Axis has a vast portfolio of. The stars were aligned with Axis and myself, so here I am today!

Describe Axis in three words

The first three words that came to my mind were “fika, fika, fika”, because somehow Axis attracts people who enjoy this Swedish culture!

All jokes aside, the three words that I would use to describe Axis would be “fika, open, helpful”. One of the major attributes that I see in every colleague at Axis, regardless of where they are from, is that everyone helps one another. Since joining Axis, I have seen no shortage of this behavior. When someone needs help, people are ready to provide their support.

As for “Open”, it is a core value of the organization, which I feel is also demonstrated quite well here at Axis. Everyone here is vocal, honest and genuine.

What are the top three things about your role as National Sales Manager for Indonesia?

Being a Sales Manager for Indonesia, I would say that I love a good challenge. Joining a new workplace and adapting to the new environment, industry, and its people are challenges I embrace. With this role also comes the challenge of growing the business, which is something I find very exciting. Finally, our core values are something that stands out for me as a National Sales Manager.  At Axis, every employee truly embodies these values, leading to a supportive environment where we help each other achieve our goals.

How does Axis invest in its people?

One crucial aspect I believe Axis does to invest in its people is providing opportunities in people development. In my experience, I do not think I have encountered any company investing in its people like Axis does. For example, in South Asia Pacific (SAP) we have our Axis Sales Methodology training provided to all employees, not just to those in sales. The inclusivity Axis demonstrates is something that is unique to the way it invests in its people. Another example I can give is our annual Kick Off. Here all employees are given the opportunity to contribute and participate in the organizing and execution of the event. It is not limited to just the Marketing team taking sole responsibility for hosting this event. Lastly, Axis invests in its company culture. You can see it in the everyday lives of every employee in the workplace, where we are like a big family. There is also appreciation for the fact that we can interact with anyone, regardless of role, region, age, or hierarchy. That is how I feel Axis invests in its people.

What can a new employee expect?

The first thing a new employee can expect is a big and warm welcome from Axis! We pride ourselves on our company culture, so expect nothing but a welcoming environment. With this, it is also important to be open minded and have an open heart. Never shy away from learning new things and taking on new challenges. We strongly advocate learning and a learning culture. We always encourage employees at Axis to take up opportunities for learning, be it something that is related to your job or even something that is non-related to your job. Having the growth mindset to take on new learning opportunities is something we value greatly here at Axis. Finally, get ready for lots of fika time!
